Anthony Bourdain Blasts Paula Deen As Greedy In Latest Celebrity Chef Skirmish

Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain says he is disgusted with Paula Deen’s decision to become the spokesperson for the diabetes drug Victoza

Television personality and chef Anthony Bourdain called Paula Deen “greedy” and “cynical” on ABC’s “Good Morning America” Tuesday morning for cooking up fattening food while keeping her diabetes under wraps.
Though Bourdain, 55, admitted “there’s a lot to admire about Paula Deen and her life,” he bashed her for creating a brand based around “excess without guilt” when she knew the health consequences.
Bourdain expressed disgusted with her decision to become the spokesperson for the diabetes drug Victoza.
“I find that in excruciatingly bad taste,” he added. “It’s unconscionable, cynical and greedy. Thirty million dollars a year. How much money do you need?”
In this month’s issue of Prevention, Deen dubbed his criticisms to be “very, very cruel.”
The feud began back in August when Bourdain bashed the 64 year-old Southern-fried doyenne as “the worst, most dangerous person to America.”
“She revels in unholy connections with evil corporations, and she’s proud of the fact that her food is f—ing bad for you,” Bourdain said to TV Guide. “Plus, her food sucks.”
Deen went on Fox and Friends to defend herself against the salty-tongued Bourdain.
“I don’t know if it was a publicity thing or if someone had just peed in his bowl of cereal that morning and he was mad,” she said. “I’ve been around long enough to know to choose my battles, and that ain’t one of them.”
In January, just hours after she announced her diabetes and her drug endorsement, Bourdain took to his Twitter account to grouse.
“Thinking of getting into the leg-breaking business, so I can profitably sell crutches later,” he wrote.
He was even more frank in an interview with
“We can look forward to People or Us magazine running the cover story, ‘I’m back’ usual rehab story private hell,” Bourdain said . “Clearly this has been coming for a while. She’s been looking for ways to position herself.”
Bourdain wasn’t far off.
Deen is already crowing about her relationship with the American Diabetes Association and her commitment to teaching healthier cooking tips.
“Don’t cry for me, honey,” she said, in response to Bourdain’s remarks. “God has blessed me unbelievably.”

I am somewhat of a geek!

  1. Doesn’t shock me too much. Anthony Bourdain has a loud mouth and does not care what others think of him. Further, he has stated his dislike for Paula Deen on several prior occasions.
