Strauss-Kahn Charged Over Vice Ring Claims

Dominique Strauss-Kahn

Dominique Strauss-Kahn has been charged with alleged involvement in a vice ring that procured prostitutes, according to his lawyers.
The former chief of the International Monetary Fund was charged after being questioned by magistrates in Lille.
One of his lawyers, Richard Malka, said: “He firmly declares that he is not guilty of these acts and of never having the least inkling that the women he met could have been prostitutes.”
Mr Strauss-Kahn, 62, who was once considered a front runner to succeed Nicolas Sarkozy as French president, was quizzed by police over the claims for two days last month.
In a separate case, he was arrested in New York last May following allegations he had sexually assaulted a chambermaid in his hotel suite.
Prosecutors dropped the case against him in August because of doubts about the credibility of Ms Diallo, who is now pursuing a civil claim.
