Roberto Mancini is interested in Arsenal striker Robin van Persie

Roberto Mancini may move for Arsenal striker Robin van Persie in the summer after he admitted he was interested in bringing the Dutch international to Manchester City.
The 28-year-old has less than 18 months left on his contract and when asked whether City would come in with an offer for the forward, Mancini said he was keen.
‘We are interested in all good players. This is normal, but not only us. I think all the good teams are interested in Van Persie,’ the City boss said.
‘I think Van Persie at this moment is one of the best strikers in Europe with (Lionel) Messi, (Cristiano) Ronaldo and with Sergio (Aguero) and Mario (Balotelli).
‘He is a fantastic striker, but I think he will sign a new contract at Arsenal, because if Arsenal also lose Van Persie they will have a big problem.’
Manchester City are apparently willing to give Van Persie a four year contract and pay him £220,000-a-week, with a transfer fee in the region of £25million.
But the Citizens risk angering Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger who has already loss Gael Clichy, Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Adebayor and Samir Nasri to the Manchester club.
When asked if he was worried about upsetting Wenger, Mancini said: ‘I think if there is a good player who wants to leave a club, then we are interested. But if this player wants to stay, we don’t have any problem.’
Arsenal are close to signing Cologne striker Lukas Podolski after the north London club agreed a £10.9million fee with his German team.
It was initially thought the 26-year-old would partner Van Persie but he may be being brought in as a replacement.

I am somewhat of a geek!
