Falana, Others Criticise Nigerian Bar Event

Call to Bar

Lagos Lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) has criticised the fallen standard of Nigerian legal education and the organisation of the Call to Bar programme of the Nigeria Law School.
Speaking to journalists at the evvent, Falana said the quality of law programme in the country has fallen due to pressure on the school, lack of infrastructure, and poor funding.
Falana, whose son is among those called to Bar, berated the organisers of the programme for keeping families and friends of the newly-wigged outside the event without providing them with adequate seats.
He said the programme should be spread into batches of preferably a week or be decentralised to the various zones’ Law schools.
Also speaking, Chief Idowu Sofola (SAN) said all stakeholders are worried about the quality of lawyers being turned out from the Law schools.
He said that the National Universities Commission (NUC) is working closely with Council of Legal Education to ensure adherence to standards on Law programmes.
