Ogun Revokes C of O Of Daniel’s Church

Former governor Gbenga Daniel

Ogun government says it has revoked the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) issued to Abraham’s Tabernacle, Sagamu, a church  built by former Gov. Gbenga Daniel in memory of his late father.
Mrs Ronke Sokefun, the state Director of Lands, disclosed this on Monday at a press conference in Abeokuta.
Sokefun told newsmen that the revocation followed the adoption of the recommendations of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry on Lands, recently set up by the state government.
She said that a Notice of Cancellation which was served on the Trustees of the church on Jan. 24, 2012, was signed by Gov. Ibikunle Amosun on Jan. 20.
The director said that Amosun’s action was consistent with the powers conferred on him by Sections 1 and 26 of the Land Use Act.
She said that the commission discovered a number of irregularities in the processing of the allocation made to the church.
Sokefun said that the report of the commission, to which the church reportedly made legal representation, revealed that the date of allocation of the land preceded both the date on the application form and the date it was submitted.
