The Lagos/Ibadan Expressway was thrown into unending traffic early Tuesday morning due to multiple motor accidents, leading to the death of three people while many other sustained various degrees of injury.
The accident, which occurred near the Ogun State Property Investment Corporation, Isheri Area of the state, involved three lorries, a tipper and a bus loaded with tomatoes.
According to an eye witness, Mr Ayo Solade, a tipper loaded with granite ran into the tomato bus, which somersaulted, with its content spread across the road.
He said: “Other vehicles that were on motion ran into the tomato and consequently lost control to the extent that three people died instantly.
“The truck was carrying granite and was coming with full speed. Suddenly, it started beeping, perhaps to alert other vehicles of impending danger. The next thing was a big bang. We started running here and there to see how we could save the people inside the vehicles.’’
